The total industrial receipts for softwood species decreased 13 percent from 1999 while hardwood receipts decreased 7 percent. The result was an overall decrease in roundwood receipts of 8 percent from 1999.
The total industrial roundwood production from Wisconsin forests totaled 361 million cubic feet (MMCF) in 2003 . Roundwood production has remained stable during the previous two surveys. Roundwood production was 359 MMCF in 1996 and 363 MMCF in 1999.
Hardwoods comprised 76 percent of the total mill receipts in 2003. The hardwood/softwood ratio has remained fairly constant over the last six survey periods.
